PTS Updated Today – New Features here! (Re-Print from Bethesda)

Welcome to the Public Test Server! In this phase of play testing, we’re adding new features like One Wasteland and Daily Ops, and revisiting Legendary Perks. We would greatly appreciate any and all feedback and bug reports you share with us as you dig into these new features. Read on for an overview of each feature so that you’re prepared to check them out in the PTS.

Daily Ops

Put your skills to the test by taking on instanced, randomized, and repeatable encounters called “Daily Ops.” We recommend Daily Ops for characters who are level 50+, and you can participate alone or in a group of up to four players.

  • Our first Game Mode for Daily Ops is called “Uplink,” which involves securing a series of Uplinks to track down and destroy enemies in the Daily Ops location.
  • Each day, Daily Ops will feature a fresh combination of randomized elements to challenge you and keep you on your toes. Please Note: In the PTS, we’ve increased this rate from once per day to every 2 hours, so that you can experience more combinations over a shorter timeframe. Randomized elements include:
    • Location: The Burrows, The Burning Mine, Valley Galleria, or Vault 94 (Vault 94 is also accessible during world exploration)
    • Enemy Faction: Super Mutants, Blood Eagles, or Robots
    • Enemy Mutation: Enemy Mutations are a new system applied to every enemy in Daily Ops that will increase the difficulty and may require added strategy. Initial Mutations include:
      • Piercing Gaze: This mutation is always applied to enemies in Daily Ops, which will give them greatly enhanced perception of players
      • Volatile: Enemies will explode on death
      • Active Camouflage: Enemies will be cloaked when not attacking
      • Resilient: Enemies can only be killed by a melee attack
      • Freezing Touch: Enemies will freeze players while attacking in close proximity
  • You can play through Daily Ops multiple times per day, and will receive a base set of rewards every time you complete them. However, there are unique rewards you can try for by completing a Daily Ops within certain time limit tiers once per day:
    • Complete Daily Ops in 16 minutes to achieve Initiate tier, 12 minutes for Paladin tier, or 8 minutes for Elder tier.
    • The higher the tier you achieve each day, the better chances you have at getting unique rewards
    • If you’re shooting to reach Elder tier, we recommend teaming up with at least one other player.
    • Please Note: Even though Daily Ops will re-randomize every 2 hours in the PTS, the Initiate, Paladin, and Elder tier rewards will still only reset once per day.

One Wasteland

  • Creature levels throughout Appalachia will now adjust up or down on the fly to more closely match the character level of each player they encounter.
    • This means that the creature’s level, stats, damage, loot, and XP now all simultaneously adjust to each player that comes across them.
    • For example, imagine you are level 300 and your friend is level 20 while fighting the legendary Fasnacht Megasloth.
      • The Sloth, having a minimum level of 20 and a maximum level of 100 will appear to be level 20 to your friend and level 100 to you.
      • The damage you deal to, and damage you take from Sloth will be as if the creature was level 100. Likewise, your friend will deal and take damage as if it was level 20.
      • On death, the Sloth will also drop max-level loot and award more XP to you. Your friend will also receive loot and XP appropriate to their level.
  • These changes will open up many more opportunities to adventure anywhere in Appalachia together with your friends, regardless of any level gaps between you.
  • Additionally, they will make events like Encryptid, Scorched Earth, etc., accessible to many more players, who can now have a more meaningful impact on the outcome of the event without jeopardizing the difficulty.
  • One Wasteland also gives higher-level players more reasons to revisit previously lower-level areas, since creature XP and loot will scale up to better match their character level.
  • Finally, One Wasteland helps smooth out some of the sudden difficulty jumps when newer characters venture away from the Forest into other regions.

Legendary Perks

  • Based on community feedback, we’ve doubled the number of Perk Coins you will receive when you scrap your normal Perk Cards, which means you will be able upgrade your Legendary Perk Cards twice as fast.
    • For example: When you scrap a rank 1 Perk Card, you’ll now receive 2 Perk Coins instead of 1, and a rank 3 Perk Card will now award 6 Perk Coins instead of 3.
  • We’ve implemented new art for the Legendary Perk Cards that we added in the previous PTS. Thanks for your patience while these had placeholder art.
  • The Nuclear Proliferator Legendary Perk Card has been temporarily removed while we address some bugs we discovered shortly before this PTS release.
    • We’re planning to bring Nuclear Proliferator back once we’ve fixed those bugs.

Armor Ace S.C.O.R.E. Board

Please Note: The Main Menu option for the Armor Ace S.C.O.R.E. Board is currently using a placeholder name. We plan to update it to “Armor Ace” in a future PTS update.

  • Our next patch for Fallout 76 is going to bring an all new themed S.C.O.R.E. Board to the game, called “Armor Ace and the Power Patrol.”
  • You can now earn S.C.O.R.E. by completing Daily and Weekly Challenges in the PTS.
    • It’s not currently possible to unlock the Season rewards in the PTS, but you can help by ranking up as much as possible as you play in the test server.
    • To make it easier and more efficient to rank up, we’ve greatly increased the amount of S.C.O.R.E. you will earn from Challenges in the PTS.

Additional Changes

Combat

  • Bonus Damage: We’ve made adjustments to the way damage bonuses are calculated to make the resulting damage from multiple buffs more predictable and allow future improvements.
    • This may result in some changes in damage output for some combinations of buffs.

Items

  • Secret Service Armor: Plans for Light and Ultra-Light Limb Mods for Secret Service Armor have been added, and they are now purchasable from Regs in Vault 79.
  • Shotguns: Fixed an issue affecting Suppressor Shotgun Mods that could cause the weapon’s range value to be negative.

Perks

  • Tank Killer: Pistols now benefit from the Tank Killer Perk Card.

User Interface

  • Public Teams: We’ve renamed the “Building” team to “Casual,” since as many of you have noted, it is not possible to build in Public Teammates’ C.A.M.P.s.
    • We have also removed the former “Casual” team bonus due to its lower popularity among team types.
    • By removing the Casual team option, it made room for us to add a new “Daily Ops” team type, which offers bonus XP for completing Daily Ops (+25% bonus XP to start, +100% bonus XP for a fully bonded team).

World

  • Vault 94: Is now accessible during world exploration in Adventure Mode and Private Worlds.
  • Vault 51: We’ve added a new no-C.A.M.P. zone around Vault 51’s exterior in preparation for future content.

Thank you very much for your participation in the PTS, we’re looking forward to hearing what you think!

FALLOUT 76: INSIDE THE VAULT – PTS, A COLOSSAL PROBLEM, & MEAT WEEK BEGIN SOON (Re-Print from Bethesda)

Welcome back to Inside the Vault! This week, we’re sharing details on new features you will be able to try in the Public Test Server, which will reopen for play testing this Friday. We’ve also got information for you about next week’s update to enable the new event, “A Colossal Problem.” Finally, we’ve included a reminder about the Meat Week Seasonal Event.

ONE WASTELAND, DAILY OPS, AND MORE IN THE PTS

This Friday, August 14, we’re re-opening the Public Test Server (PTS) so that you can join us in trying out upcoming features before they reach the live game. This time, play testing will include One Wasteland, Daily Ops, Legendary Perk updates we’ve made since the last PTS, and an early look at Fallout 76 Season 2, called “Armor Ace.” Here’s an overview of each feature so that you’re prepared to check them out in the PTS:

  • One Wasteland — Creature levels throughout Appalachia will now adjust up or down on the fly to more closely match your own level as you come across them. For example, if you and a much lower-level friend both encounter the same creature, its level will simultaneously adjust to be higher for you and lower for your friend. Enemy loot and XP also scale when their levels are adjusted this way, so you won’t miss out on any rewards. As a result, you and your pals will be able to adventure anywhere together—even if there’s a level gap between you.
  • Daily Ops — Put your skills to the test by taking on instanced, randomized, and repeatable encounters called “Daily Ops.” Enemies in Daily Ops will feature unique “mutations” that may require you to strategize how best to take them out, such as stealth, exploding on death, and others. Location, enemy types, and enemy mutations will be randomized each day to keep you on your toes. Every time you complete the Daily Ops objectives, you will receive some loot. Once per day, you will be able to claim even better rewards by finishing a Daily Op within certain time limits. You can tackle Daily Ops alone or in a group of up to four players, so round up your friends and head to the PTS to try out this challenging new addition.
  • Armor Ace — This PTS update includes the new “Armor Ace and the Power Patrol” S.C.O.R.E. board, which is set to arrive when we release Patch 22 for the base game next month. You won’t be able to claim Season rewards in the PTS, but we are planning to increase the S.C.O.R.E. you receive from challenges in the test server. This way, you will be able to play test Daily and Weekly Challenges and rank up efficiently in the new Season.
  • Legendary Perks — Community feedback has already resulted in quite a few improvements for Legendary Perks, including the addition of many new Legendary Perk Cards in the previous PTS. This time, we’re doubling the amount of Perk Coins you receive from scrapping normal Perk Cards so that you can upgrade your Legendary Perks twice as fast. Please keep the feedback and bug reports coming for the Legendary Perks system as our next PTS phase begins!

If you own the PC Bethesda.net version of Fallout 76, we would love your help in play testing the new content in the PTS starting this Friday. Once you’ve had the chance to try out the new features, be sure to share your thoughts and reports with us in the PTS forum so that we get a head start on any needed adjustments and fixes.

COLOSSAL UPDATE INCOMING

76 Banner ColossalProblem 750x300

We know some players were disappointed that the Public Event, “A Colossal Problem,” was not available on day one when we released Update 21 last week. We’re excited to let you know that we’re planning to enable “A Colossal Problem” as part of a new update coming Tuesday, August 18. We’re just as eager to dig into Monongah Mine and square off against the legendary Wendigo Colossus as many of you are, and we’d like to thank you for your patience while we wrapped up performance tweaks and testing.

In addition to the new event, we’ve also been working hard to address bugs that the community has reported to us since we released Update 21. As part of next week’s update, we’re aiming to include fixes for replacing walls with doorways in build mode, add pocketed and deep pocketed mods for Secret Service Armor limbs, and address an issue blocking “An Ounce of Prevention” quest progress, among others.

MEAT WEEK IS ALMOST HERE!

76 MeatWeek1 Banner 750x300

Grahm the Super Mutant is about to crank up the summer heat with the return of his sizzling Meat Week celebration next week. Head to Primal Cuts events around Appalachia to gather some Prime Meat from the creatures of the Wasteland every 15 minutes. Then bring your haul to Grahm’s famous Meat-Cook event in the Forest every hour to turn it in for Legendary Scrip, and to help him throw a successful party for all his human friends. We’ve also added a few new rewards this year, so be sure to join the festivities!

With the arrival of “A Colossal Problem” on Tuesday, we are moving Meat Week’s start date by two days so that everyone has a chance to visit Monongah Mine for the new event. Meat Week will now take place from Thursday, August 20 – 26. Primal Cuts events will start appearing at 11:00 a.m. ET that day so that you can collect some Prime Meat before the first Meat-Cook event at noon.

Check out the patch notes for Update 21 to catch even more details about the Meat Week Seasonal Event, and we’ll see you at the Meat-Cook.
