FALLOUT 76: INSIDE THE VAULT – AMA RECAP & WASTELANDERS STATS (Re-Print from Bethesda)

Welcome back to Inside the Vault! This week, we’ve gathered together some highlights from our recent Wastelanders AMA on Reddit so that you can check out some of the questions and answers in case you missed it last week. We’re also sharing some hot-off-the-presses stats from the Wastelanders update to give you a behind-the-scenes peek at what players have been up to since launch.

WASTELANDERS AMA HIGHLIGHTS

Last week, we had an absolute blast getting to chat with many of you during our first-ever Fallout 76 “Ask Me Anything” (AMA), and we hope you enjoyed it, too. Jeff Gardiner and Ferret Baudoin from the dev team answered many of your questions rapid-fire while the AMA was live, and shared insights on current and upcoming content from their perspectives as developers.

Below, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite questions that the community asked in case you weren’t able to catch the AMA live:

AMA HIGHLIGHTS

Q: AzarianCouncil asked: “When should we see a roadmap?”

  • A: We’re working on a roadmap right now and hope to have one to you very soon. It will include content for the entire year!

Q: PiLLaYa asked: “Will we see story dlc in the future around the enclave and/or the brotherhood of steel?”

  • A: Let’s just say the Brotherhood is now watching the wasteland of West Virginia very closely…

Q: LordDaisah asked: “Will it be possible to have more than one NPC at your camp at a time?”

  • A: While we would love to do this there are numerous issues that would need to be addressed. Doubling the amount of NPCs in the world comes at a heavy cost! That said, we are patching in a way for folks to dress their companions up using all of the costumes they’ve found in our next patch in May!

Q: LawrenceAndHen asked: “Any insight on what the Legendary Perk system is going to entail & also when it might be released?”

  • A: This summer we’re adding legendary perks into the game. These perks are highly powerful and coveted, and players will unlock new slots to fit them in starting at level 50. You can also scrap all of your extra cards to ranks these perks up, and, when you roll alt characters these slots will be unlocked on them as well.

Q: BigRedtheBard asked: “What’s the plan with the camp system? You guys keep adding cool stuff to the atom store, but the budget is still pretty limited, especially if you try to use display cases”

  • A: We’re looking into both increasing the budget and other quality of life tuning as well.
  • A: You want it and OMG the dev team wants it, too. One of the greatest joys is sharing the wild and wacky stuff the community does with their CAMPs. But just flat out increasing the budget would have real significant performance ramifications. So it’s a balancing act. But we plan on doing some very fun things with CAMPs in 2020.

Q: shtehkdinner asked: “Will an area text chat system be implemented for PC, or has that been scrapped?”

  • A: Text chat is something we see requested often, we looked at implementing it early in development. Currently this year we have a number of other quality of life improvements we’re tackling. As a PC player, I too would like to get text chat implemented in the future.

Q: Host_With_The_Most asked: “Are you planning to bring balance changes to energy weapons?”

  • A: we are looking to re-balance the entire game, or “normalize”, later this year. This will eliminate a lot of the rough edges in how our zoning system works, create a more measured and balanced experience for players of all levels. We’re looking at everything, not just combat.

Q: LawrenceAndHen asked “The Wendigo Colossus is really cool – any plans to make it appear a bit more often (and maybe even buff it a bit)?”

  • A: Indeed. Not to spoil anything, but we have a brand new event featuring this awesome beast coming this summer.

Q: Morderon7 asked: “Could we get a matchmaking and some sort of group finder for activities like dungeons/raids/events?”

  • A: Yes! This summer we’re putting in a new teams system, similar to a public “looking for group” system, where Team Leaders will appear on the paper map and teams will be further incentivized with group buffs to play events, dungeons, and explore together. The wasteland is more fun friends!

Thank you very much for hanging out with us last Thursday! There are many more answers to discover in the full AMA thread on the FO76 Subreddit. Click here to check it out. We are looking forward to sharing our 2020 Roadmap with you in the next couple of weeks, so be sure to keep an eye on Fallout.com for those details.

PRIVATE TEST SERVER REOPENS THIS WEEK

76 Banner PipBoy 750x200

As we’ve mentioned in previous weeks, we would like to begin utilizing the Fallout 76 Private Test Server (PTS) for play testing ahead of all our patches going forward. We are currently looking to re-open the PTS starting on Friday, May 1, for our upcoming May patch, which includes a new feature that will let you change your Allies’ clothes, as well as our new Treasure Hunter event. Since that patch is just a few weeks away, only players who were previously invited to participate in the Wastelanders PTS will be able to access this round of play testing. However, we are planning to revisit PTS opt-ins and new invite waves with our June patch and beyond. We are looking forward to getting our next patch into your hands and can’t wait to read your feedback and bug reports.

THE PTS RETURNS

Fallout76 TV Banner 750x200

Like we mentioned last week, we are looking to utilize the Fallout 76 Private Test Server (PTS) for many more patches going forward. We would like to re-open the PTS starting next Thursday, April 30, so that we can get lots of early community feedback for our next update, which is currently planned for May. This will provide a couple of weeks of play testing time so that those of you who are interested can share your thoughts and bug reports with us before the patch goes live. As with Wastelanders, your participation will help us get a head start on any needed improvements or fixes.

This round of play testing will once again be invite-only, and all play testers who are selected will also be required to sign an NDA before logging in. Additionally, we are going to re-open signups so that those of you who missed opting into the PTS last time will have another chance before we send out the next wave of invites. Keep an eye out for more details in the coming days about when and how you can opt in to be selected for participation in the PTS. If you took part in the PTS ahead of Wastelanders launch, there’s no need to sign up again. We would be glad to welcome you back to this and future iterations of the PTS.

We look forward to more adventures with you!

COMMUNITY CALENDAR UPDATES
