Welcome back to Inside the Vault! This week, we’re sharing details on how you can be invited to get some early hands-on time with our upcoming Wastelanders update. We’ve also got information about a patch coming next week, a reminder about this weekend’s Double XP Event, and we’re revisiting the Holiday Scorched event with a few juicy stats.
Our Wastelanders update is still a work in progress, but we feel the time is right to invite a small number of players from outside of our studio to join us in early playtesting of the new content in a Private Test Server (PTS) on PC. For the next few days, you will be able to sign up to let us know that you’re interested in playtesting Wastelanders. Later this month, a few hundred of those who opted in will be selected to join the Private Test Server, share their feedback, and hunt for bugs that we can squash.
Starting January 17, a few hundred of those who opted in will be selected to join the Private Test Server. At that time, invited players will gain full access to the Wastelanders update on the PTS so that they can share their feedback for the new content, and hunt for bugs that we can squash. Participants will be able to access the PTS at all times, until we bring it offline at a later date to review your feedback and bug reports prior to Wastelanders launch.
Opt-In Details
Head to our Wastelanders Private Testing article on Fallout.com to access the opt-in page, and to catch additional information about the Private Test Server.
The opt-in period ends at 6:00 p.m. ET on January 14 so be sure to sign up by then. Please keep in mind that, if you are selected, the Private Test Server will only be accessible on PC, and you will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before you can participate.
We’ve been very excited to get this update into the hands of real players from the Fallout 76 community, and we can’t wait to hear what you think!
We are working full-steam-ahead on Wastelanders, which will be the biggest update we’ve ever released for Fallout 76 so far. As a result, we need to make a few behind-the-scenes preparations for the base game so that it’s ready when we release Wastelanders later in Q1. To do this, we’re planning to roll out a new update on Tuesday, January 14.
This patch may seem minor since it will not contain many gameplay adjustments for the current version of Fallout 76, but it is necessary prep work. It will include a few fixes for some cosmetic items that we managed to squeeze in, since doing so did not affect our ongoing work on Wastelanders content. This patch will require some downtime on Tuesday, and we will be providing patch notes, but we wanted to let you know that the list of changes will be shorter than usual. Wastelanders will not only contain new content for you to explore and conquer, but it will also include many fixes and improvements for issues that currently exist in the base game. Additionally, in patches that follow we plan to return to the larger updates that you’ve come to expect.
We hope your New Year’s Resolution was to level up, because we’re kicking off 2020 with a new Double XP Event that began yesterday! As always, this event affects all game modes, which means you will rake in twice the usual amount of XP whether you’re questing in Adventure Mode, crafting in your Private World, or battling to claim the title of Overseer in Nuclear Winter.
Double XP Event Times:
The holiday season may be behind us, but we’ve still been in a festive mood around the studio. We wanted to take a look back at a few of the holiday events that took place over the past couple of weeks and share a few stats with you now that the presents have all been opened and the decorations put away.
Thanks for checking out our latest Inside the Vault! We hope you will return for future weeks as we continue to share the latest Fallout 76 news with you, as well as more previews of upcoming Wastelanders content.
We want YOU to join us in Appalachia to prepare for the arrival of Wastelanders. Starting January 17, we will be inviting a small number of Fallout 76 community members to experience an early version of Wastelanders. During this time, we are looking for you try out the new content, provide your feedback, and report the issues you experience in a Private Test Server (PTS).
Currently, we are only looking for a few hundred players to join us in playtesting. While this means that not everyone who opts-in will be selected, we wanted to ensure that as many of our most active and experienced community members as possible have the chance to opt in for consideration.
If you play Fallout 76 on PC and would like to sign up, please click the link below and fill in your account details before the opt-in period ends at 6:00 p.m. ET on January 14.
There are some important details to know for those of you who receive invitations to join us on the Wastelanders PTS later this month. Please keep the following information in mind if you decide to opt-in using the link above.
Aside from occasional downtime for maintenance, invited players will be able to access the Wastelanders Private Test Server at all times after January 17 until we bring the PTS offline at a later date. We will evaluate what adjustments and fixes we can implement for the Wastelanders update based on your feedback and bug reports, and what will need to wait for a follow-up patch.
We can’t wait to hear what you think so that we can investigate any bugs you find and review your thoughts on the new content. Don’t forget to sign up using the link above, and we hope to see some of you join us on the Wastelanders PTS!
