FALLOUT 76: INSIDE THE VAULT – KICKING OFF SEASON ONE! (Re-Print from Bethesda)

Welcome back to Inside the Vault! This week we’re celebrating the upcoming kickoff of our first Season, which starts when Update 20 arrives on June 30 and will run through mid-September. Let’s take a look at everything Season One has to offer, including the theme, challenges, and tons of rewards like new consumables, cosmetics, C.A.M.P. items, and the stellar Captain Cosmos Power Armor!

SEASONS OVERVIEW

Game Board

Introduced a few weeks ago, Seasons are a new account-wide progression system that overhauls the existing Daily and Weekly Challenges and gives you tons of opportunities to earn rewards. Seasons will be free for all players to take part in and enjoy, and everyone will advance on the same progression track. Each Season will last around 10 weeks, with themes, rewards, and challenges refreshing for each Season. For more information on how Seasons will work, check out this Inside the Vault.

INTRODUCING SEASON ONE: THE LEGENDARY RUN!

From the makers of Unstoppables Shindig, Blast Radius, and Catch the Commie comes The Legendary Run – an exciting new way to experience irradiated West Virginia. The Legendary Run is Fallout 76’s first Season and features a boardgame-inspired theme. As Captain Cosmos, you will race the evil Dr. Zorbo across the galaxy. Your progression through the Season will be represented as pieces on a game board. Can you beat Dr. Zorbo to the finish line? You have until mid-September to find out!

NEW CHALLENGES AND EARNING S.C.O.R.E.

Each Season brings a new progression of 100 Ranks to reach, plus exciting rewards like Atoms, Perk Card packs, and unique cosmetics. By completing Daily and Weekly Challenges, you’ll earn S.C.O.R.E. which will allow you to rank up and claim a new reward every time you do! To help you rank-up, we’ve revamped our Daily and Weekly Challenges to provide easier everyday content for players. You’ll get rewarded just for doing things you already do as you play Fallout 76! Maybe one of your Daily Challenges will be scrapping junk to get a certain resource, or crafting ammo at a workbench. Or maybe it’ll even be a more social Challenge like using photomode while you’re partied up. We haven’t changed any of the Lifetime Challenges and they will not be updated with each Season, so you will still be able to complete them and earn their one-time Atom rewards.

Each rank-up comes with its own reward, which you’ll claim directly from the game board. Keep track of your progress by accessing the new Legendary Run option in the Main Menu. There are 100 ranks in the first Season, so there are plenty of rewards to claim. If you want to jump ahead on the board, you may choose to spend 150 Atoms to gain individual ranks in the order they appear. This is completely optional and will be available starting two weeks after the Season kicks off (July 14).

YOU MENTIONED REWARDS?

Of course there are rewards! Each rank comes with its own reward, and you’ll get something special every 10 levels, and sometimes just if we think a number is fun (like rank 76). In addition to over 40 new cosmetic items, in-game currency, Perk Card packs, Atoms, and consumables like Repair Kits, you’ll also receive the following rewards for ranking up:

  • Lunchboxes – Lunchboxes are a new consumable item that give a +25% XP bonus to you and all nearby players as well as a random social buff.
    • Social buffs can include things like +15% bonus damage to certain enemy types, 50% reduced hunger or thirst, enemies exploding into confetti instead of a bloody mess, etc.
    • These buffs last for one hour, and the XP bonus can stack up to +100% if multiple players open Lunchboxes at once.
    • Social buffs don’t stack with themselves, but you can have several active at once after opening multiple Lunchboxes.
  • Ammo Converter – The Ammo Converter is unlocked at Rank 5, and it will allow you to exchange your unwanted ammo for ammo that you actually need!
    • Find the Ammo Converter in the Resources section of your C.A.M.P. Build Menu. Once placed, you can access the Ammo Converter through the attached Terminal.
    • In the Terminal, find the Ammo you want to convert and it will remove the specified count of Ammo and credit you with some AmmoPoints, up to a maximum.
    • Exchange your stored AmmoPoints for your preferred type of Ammo.
    • Other Players can use any Ammo Converter Terminal to access their stored AmmoPoints, so put one down for the convenience of your fellow Wastelanders!
  • Vault-Tec Supply Packages – These are small bundles of crafting materials that will help give your scrap collection a little boost.
  • Fireworks – Earn fireworks that you can set off anywhere in the world and light up the sky!

Glow in the Dark Wallpaper + Lamp

  • Build walls with Glow in the Dark Wallpaper to give your humble abode an interstellar aesthetic.

Robot Ghillie Armor

  • New weapon skins, like the Appalachian Thunder Pipe

Captain Cosmos Power Armor

  • New Power Armor sets, like the Atomic Onslaught Power Armor, and both white and black versions of Captain Cosmos Power Armor

UFO Playscape

Reminder that The Legendary Run begins on June 30 and will run through mid-September. We look forward to seeing you at the finish line!

FALLOUT 76: INSIDE THE VAULT – PUBLIC TEAMS OVERVIEW & FASNACHT STATS (Re-Print from Bethesda)

Hey there, Vault Dwellers! We have some exciting updates to share with you this week, including the addition of Multi-Factor Authentication for Fallout 76. Public Teams are also set to arrive in our next major patch, and they’re going to make it easier than ever to form teams and get in-game bonuses for playing together. Finally, we’re taking a look back at the recent Fasnacht Day Seasonal Event with some sweet new stats.

MULTI-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION NOW AVAILABLE

Your account security is something we take very seriously, and we’re pleased to announce that Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is now available for Fallout 76. Visit our Customer Support site for instructions that you can use to safeguard your Bethesda.net account by enabling MFA, and ensure that the only person logging into your account is you. If you encounter any issues after setting up authentication please head here for troubleshooting tips and assistance.

CONQUER THE WASTELAND WITH PUBLIC TEAMS

Over time, we’ve received lots of requests from the Fallout 76 community for quality-of-life improvements when it comes to finding other players and forming teams. With Update 20, we’re excited to introduce you to Public Teams, which will make grouping up with your friends and other players easier and more beneficial than ever.

TEAM UP WITH EASE

Once Update 20 arrives, all you need to do to get started with Public Teams is open the Social Menu. We’ve added a new “Public Teams” tab at the top that you can select to browse all of the Public Teams available in your current world. While you’re perusing the list, you will see that every Public Team has its own Team Goal, like exploration or building, which will help you find other like-minded players more easily. Public Teams can have up to four members, so as long as there is an open spot you can click one of the teams in the list to join it immediately.

You can also take a look at the in-game map to check out where Public Teams are in the world. Team leaders will display special icons on the map showing their current Team Goal, and you can click on them to see additional details or join their team directly.

CREATE YOUR OWN PUBLIC TEAM

If you don’t find what you’re looking for in the list or on the map, hit the “Create New Team” button to kick off a Public Team of your own. Next, you will need to select a goal for your team. There are currently six of them available to choose from: Hunting, Roleplay, Events, Exploration, Building, or Casual. You and your teammates will receive a buff based on the theme of your Team Goal, so choose carefully to make sure you attract teammates who share your ambitions.

Once you’ve selected a goal, your Public Team will be created and all players in your current world will receive a notification that a new Public Team is available (except players you’ve blocked and vice versa). With any Luck, your team will soon fill up with some friendly faces, and you can take on Appalachia as a group. After being on a team together for a short time, you and your new teammates will begin to form Bonds.

76 PublicTeams HUDBonds

Here are all of the current Team Goals and the bonuses associated with them. You get a base bonus just for being on the Public Team, and each bonded teammate adds another stack of the bonus.

  • Hunting – Bonus: +25% XP for Legendary Kills (100% for a fully bonded team)
  • Roleplay – Bonus: +1 Charisma (+4 for a fully bonded team)
  • Events – Bonus: +25% XP for completing Events (100% for a fully bonded team)
  • Exploration – Bonus: +1 Endurance (+4 for a fully bonded team)
  • Building – Bonus: +1 Intelligence (+4 for a fully bonded team)
  • Casual – Bonus: +1 Luck (+4 for a fully bonded team)

Want to change things up? Don’t worry. You’re not stuck with the goal you picked when you started your team. Multiple Public Teams of the same type can co-exist in a world, and you’re free to switch your Team Goal at any time using the Social Menu—just make sure to give your teammates a heads-up when you do. If you need to make a roster change, you also have the ability to kick or block any players from your team who don’t turn out to be very nice.

WHAT’S HAPPENING TO NORMAL TEAMS?

Normal “private” teams as you know them today will still be available after Public Teams arrive. Any team you form through direct invite or from the Main Menu will begin as a private team. Once you’re in-game, you can then choose to turn your private team into a public one using the Social Menu. In fact, the best way to ensure your friends get guaranteed spots in your Public Team is to first invite them to a private team and then convert it when you want to fill empty slots.

There are also a couple of differences between private teams and Public Teams that will help prevent strangers from messing with your stuff: While in a Public Team, you and your teammates will not be able to build in each other’s C.A.M.P.s. Additionally, you cannot open locked doors or containers that your Public Teammates have built without becoming Wanted. Finally, we’ve adjusted the rules of team PVP for both private and Public Teams so that a team member who engages in PVP with an outside player no longer also flags their teammates for PVP. This will help prevent players from being dragged into PVP combat that they didn’t initiate.

We can’t wait to bring the Public Teams system to you in Update 20! If you own Fallout 76 on PC through Bethesda.net you can try out Public Teams right now in the Public Test Server. Once you do, be sure to let us know what you think in the PTS Forum.
