FALLOUT 76: INSIDE THE VAULT – AMMO CONVERTER UPDATES, PURVEYOR SALE, & MORE! (Re-Print from Bethesda)

Welcome to another Inside the Vault! This week, we’re sharing info on upcoming changes for the Ammo Converter, we’re kicking off a new phase of PTS play testing, as well as a new Purveyor Legendary Sale, and we’re welcoming Xbox Game Pass members to Fallout 76. Read on to catch all the details.

UPCOMING AMMO CONVERTER IMPROVEMENTS

We’ve been reading community feedback about the Ammo Converter after we released it as a rank-up reward in The Legendary Run. We’re pleased to let you know that we are planning to bring improvements to it in our next major patch.

The Ammo Converter was originally intended to help you exchange the ammo you looted during a play session for your preferred ammo type. When the Ammo Converter launched with the start of Season 1, however, we saw that it wasn’t meeting the needs of our late-game players. Many of them had thousands of rounds of ammunition banked, and exchanging it for something else became a slow and tedious process. We are looking to make the following changes to help smooth out the experience of getting the ammo you need from the Converter:

  • More Ammo Per Exchange: We’re adding options to buy and sell 10x and 100x the normal amounts of ammo so that you can exchange larger stacks more quickly.
  • Fewer Button Presses: Buying and selling is being incorporated directly into the terminal page for each ammo type, which means there will be one less screen for you to click through when exchanging your ammo. Combined with the increased exchange amounts above, you will be able to convert more ammo with less flipping through terminal menus.
  • Increased AmmoPoints Cap: You will be able to save up many more AmmoPoints for a rainy day, because we’re increasing the maximum amount you can store from 2,000 to 100,000.

We hope these adjustments will help those of you with lots of ammo in storage to swap it more effectively once our next update arrives.

FALLOUT 76 NOW AVAILABLE VIA XBOX GAME PASS

76 Banner Backpack 750x300

As of today, Fallout 76 is officially available through Xbox Game Pass! Xbox Game Pass Console members are now able to play Fallout 76 for free on Xbox One, Game Pass for PC members can take on the Wasteland through the Windows 10 Store, and Game Pass Ultimate members can play using Xbox One or Windows 10 PC.

We’d like to give a very warm welcome to those of you who will be stepping into Appalachia for the first time today. If you’re one of our more experienced adventurers, we hope you will keep an eye on Vault 76 and lend a hand to these new Dwellers who are fresh out of the Vault.

To catch additional details about the Windows 10 Store version of Fallout 76 you can read last week’s Inside the Vault, and you can learn more about Xbox Game Pass by heading here.

TRY “A COLOSSAL PROBLEM” IN THE PTS!

76 Banner WendigoColossus 750x300

We just re-opened the Public Test Server (PTS) with Update 21 so that you can do some play testing, report bugs, and share your feedback with us before we release the patch in August. While Update 21 primarily includes bug fixes, we’ve also re-enabled the new Public Event “A Colossal Problem” in the PTS.

Since “A Colossal Problem” requires a nuke to begin, we’ve added automated nuke launches to the PTS. Starting at 12:00 p.m. ET each day, a nuke will automatically drop on Monongah Mine. A new one will launch every four hours after that, so you can better coordinate and team up with other players as you head into the depths of the mine.

We also re-enabled Legendary Perks in the PTS, which brings 15 new Legendary Perk Cards and design changes we’ve implemented since that system was last available for play testing. While Legendary Perks will not be included in Update 21, we would greatly appreciate your feedback as we continue to work on them.

If you own Fallout 76 on PC through the Bethesda.net launcher, we would love to hear your thoughts on “A Colossal Problem” and Legendary Perks. If you participate and have feedback or bug reports you’d like to share with us, please visit the PTS forum.

PURVEYOR LEGENDARY SALE STARTS TODAY!

Check out the Legendary Sale details below and be sure to pay Murmrgh a visit over the next few days.

Legendary Perk Updates – Feedback and Discussion (Part 2!) (Re-Print From Bethesda)

In this iteration of the PTS, we’ve re-enabled Legendary Perks so that you can try out new changes we’ve made since Legendary Perks were last available for play testing.

Please note that Legendary Perks are not launching with Update 21, but we want to bring them to the PTS early so that there’s plenty of time for you to share your feedback and report any bugs you may find.

Legendary Perk Updates in this PTS

With our latest round of updates for Legendary Perks, we’re adding 15 new Perk Cards, removing a few that didn’t receive positive feedback, and making an adjustment to Perk Card scrapping:

Perk Card Scrapping

  • In the last PTS, some players felt forced into scrapping their golden Perk Cards because they offered more Perk Coins than other cards. We don’t want you to have to scrap your collection of golden cards, and so they will now award the same amount of Perk Coins as normal Perk Cards when scrapped.

New Legendary Perks

We’re planning to add 15 new Legendary Perk Cards to the game. Here are a few that we wanted to highlight, but be sure to head into the PTS to try out the rest.

  • Legendary S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Perks: We’ve added a new Legendary Perk Card for each S.P.E.C.I.A.L. attribute that will increase your stat in the chosen category, allowing you to equip additional normal Perk Cards. These cards can be upgraded to increase the stat bonuses they offer. While each attribute still caps at 15 points, these new perks can help you round out your character build.
  • Master Infiltrator: A frequent request from the community, this Legendary Perk Card will allow you to automatically pick locks and hack terminals. It can be upgraded to auto-unlock higher-level locks and terminals.
  • Ammo Factory: When equipped, you will produce bonus rounds when crafting ammunition. The bonus amount increases as you upgrade Ammo Factory, and it stacks with other Perk Cards, like Ammosmith and Super Duper.

Legendary Perk Removals

  • Following community feedback from the last PTS, we are removing Botany Buddy, Thin Skinned, Suited Up, and Heavy Duty from the Legendary Perk Card lineup.

Last time Legendary Perks were available, we implemented design changes that allowed players to pay 1 Perk Coin to swap a Legendary Perk selection without needing to wait until they unlocked a new Legendary Perk Slot. We also added the ability to save Legendary Perk selections even if the player hadn’t filled all available Slots. These changes are still available in addition to everything mentioned above.

Legendary Perks System Refresher

If you weren’t familiar with Legendary Perks from the last PTS, or just want a refresher, here are some details on how this system works:

  • Legendary Perks are new high-level Perk Cards you can access via the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Menu, and you can equip them to add even more power to your character builds.
  • You will be able to unlock your first Legendary Perk slot at level 50, and new ones at certain level milestones after that: 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, and 300.
    • Your characters who are already high-level will immediately have access to one Legendary Perk Slot for each of the above leveling milestones they’ve reached.
      • For example, a level 250 character will have access to 5 Legendary Perk slots, with the ability to open a sixth slot at level 300.
  • Each Legendary Perk has 4 Ranks, and you can use new “Perk Coins” to rank them up.
    • Earn Perk Coins by scrapping your unused normal Perk Cards.
  • Legendary Perk slots are account-wide, so create new characters, assign Perks to those available slots, and share your feedback on how the early game now feels for experienced players experimenting with new alts.

Please feel free to share your feedback as replies to this thread once you’ve had the chance to try out these Legendary Perk changes in the PTS. Thank you, and we can’t wait to hear what you think!

PLAY FALLOUT 76 WITH XBOX GAME PASS

76 Banner PipBoy 750x200

We’re excited to announce that Fallout 76 is coming to Xbox Game Pass next week on Thursday, July 9! This means that Xbox Game Pass Console members will be able to play Fallout 76 for free on Xbox One and, for the first time ever, Xbox Game Pass for PC members will be able to take on the Wasteland through the Windows 10 Store. If you have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you can venture into Appalachia using both your Xbox One and your Windows 10 PC.

If you already play Fallout 76 on PC and decide to make the jump to Game Pass for PC, all of the progress you’ve made will still be waiting for you as soon as you log into the game. Your friends list will also stay the same, because all PC players will play together regardless of the launcher they use.

Please note that, due to technical limitations, you will not be able to transfer your Atom balance or your Fallout 1st membership from your Bethesda.net or Steam version of the game to the Windows 10 Store version. Atoms you earn in-game are also specific to one platform or the other. However, any items you have purchased through the Atomic Shop, or that you’ve claimed through Season progress, will still be available to you on any PC platform.

You can get more details about Xbox Game Pass here, and we hope you will join us in Appalachia on July 9!

76 Banner WendigoColossus 750x300

Next week, we’re aiming to re-open the Fallout 76 Public Test Server (PTS) once again, this time with a focus on the impending Update 21, which is currently slated for release in August. While this patch will mainly contain bug fixes and other improvements, we’re also hoping you will head back to Monongah Mine to share a new round of feedback with us about the new Public Event, A Colossal Problem.

As always, we’re incredibly thankful for the many thoughts and bug reports all of our dedicated PTS players have shared so far, and we appreciate your participation for each new patch. We hope you will join us again to try out Update 21 ahead of its release, and we will let you know as soon as it is available in the PTS next week.

Oh, and one last thing before you go. . . Have you checked your Pip-Boy radio lately? A new broadcast appeared within the last couple of days, but it just sounds like noise to us. We’ve been scratching our heads listening to it, but maybe those of you with high real-life Perception can iron out these cryptic communications?
